Equine First Aid Kits: In The Barn

While many horse supply stores may sell first aid kits for your barn, we all know they can be a bit pricey.

Our staff at Deer Creek has put together a list of items we would recommend every barn/horse owner have on hand in the case of an emergency.

  • Standing bandages and no-bows

  • Cotton gauze rolls 4

  • Nitrile gloves 4

  • Vetrap 2

  • Elastikon and white bandage tape 1

  • Non-adherent dressing pads 5

  • Betadine or Chlorhex scrubs

  • Vaseline

  • Aluspray

  • Triple Antibiotic Ointment

  • Hydrocortisone Cream

  • Bandage scissors

  • Epsom salts

  • Animalintex pads

  • Cold ice packs/wraps (ice pop sheets work great!)

  • Thermometer

  • Bute powder, paste, or tablets

  • Banamine paste or liquid for oral use only

  • Large dosing syringes

  • A humane twitch (a double snap and a small loop of baling twine work great)
